Cape Town, South Africa — Microsoft ElevateHer, in partnership with Women in Tech South Africa, has launched a groundbreaking initiative to equip 50,000 Africans — women, men, and youth — with practical AI and digital skills completely free of charge.
The campaign, titled “AI for Everyone: Learn, Earn, and Lead,” offers an inclusive 20-week guided learning journey that breaks down complex AI concepts into relatable, real-life African examples. Participants who complete all Microsoft-recognized AI badges can win prizes such as data bundles, Women in Tech T-shirts, and a fully paid trip to the 2026 Women in Tech Global Summit in Cape Town.
Bridging the Digital Divide — One Badge at a Time
Through the official Microsoft ElevateHer learning portal, learners can access three free AI badges:
- Foundational AI Skills — understanding how AI learns and makes decisions.
- Business AI Essentials — using AI to boost productivity and innovation.
- Career AI Essentials — preparing for tomorrow’s AI-driven job market.
Each badge blends real-world context, interactive exercises, and African storytelling — from township vendors predicting customer demand to small businesses using Microsoft Copilot to automate everyday tasks.
