Sage Appoints Jordaan Burger as Managing Director for Africa & Middle East Region

Sage, the global leader in accounting, financial, HR, and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced the appointment of Jordaan Burger as Managing Director for its Africa & Middle East (AME) region.

Jordaan’s appointment as Managing Director follows a successful three-month period in the role on an interim basis. His appointment reflects Sage’s focus on internal talent development and leadership continuity in one of its fastest-growing markets.

Since joining Sage in 2019, Jordaan has held several senior roles, including VP Finance for AMEA. He brings a deep understanding of the business, strong operational expertise, and a consistent track record of delivering results. His leadership is expected to accelerate Sage’s momentum in the region.

With an international career spanning finance and executive leadership, Jordaan has held senior positions across South Africa, London, and global markets. Prior to Sage, he served as Financial Director at MWR InfoSecurity (now F-Secure), managing finance operations in New York, Singapore, and Poland. He was also an audit partner at TAG Incorporated (now PKF Pretoria). This broad global experience gives him a well-rounded perspective on growth and strategy.

In his new role, Jordaan will lead Sage’s growth across the AME region, focusing on expanding its presence in cloud-based accounting, people & payroll, and payments solutions.

He succeeds Pieter Bensch, who after seven years of strong commercial growth and successfully scaling Sage Intacct in South Africa, has stepped into the role of Executive Vice President for the UK, Ireland, and Africa (UKIA) region, and MD for the UKI.

“Jordaan’s appointment as Managing Director is a key milestone for our AME business, placing him at the forefront of driving its next phase of growth,” says Derk Bleeker, Chief Commercial Officer at Sage. “Pieter’s progression to EVP for UKIA highlights the strength of leadership talent within Sage, and Jordaan’s appointment further reinforces our commitment to customers and partners in the region. This transition underlines Sage’s continued commitment to delivering value, innovation, and long-term support to our customers and partners in AME.”

Jordaan Burger, Managing Director for Sage AME, concludes, ” I am honoured to take on this role and excited to build on the strong foundation Pieter has established. The AME region is a critical part of Sage’s global growth strategy, and I look forward to working closely with our colleagues, customers, and partners to drive innovation, accelerate digital transformation, and create sustainable growth across the region.”
