HCLTech scales South Africa operations with new headquarters featuring an AI Center of Excellence

Doubles down on upskilling of local talent with graduation ceremony of fresh batch of learners from HCLTech’s skills development

HCLTech, a leading global technology company, is scaling its South Africa operations with the launch of its new regional headquarters in Johannesburg. Located in the premium business district of Sandton, the modern facility will further strengthen HCLTech’s technology innovation and delivery to enterprises in South Africa and the region.

Notably, the new facility will house an AI Center of Excellence where enterprises can experience the business-value of HCLTech’s full-stack AI portfolio of AI-led Service Transformation, Industry AI Solutions, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, AI Factory and AI Advisory, while discovering industry-specific use cases and accelerating their AI transformation journeys. The facility will also be a training hub focused on developing next-generation technology talent in South Africa and strengthening the country’s future digital workforce.

Sandeep Saxena, Chief Growth Officer, Growth Markets 2 (India, Middle East and Africa, France, Iberia and Italy), HCLTech, said, “South Africa has been a strategic market for HCLTech for over 15 years, and we are proud to be a trusted partner to enterprises in the region. With our differentiated portfolio that includes full-stack AI solutions, we are deepening our commitment to South Africa with this new facility. In line with our corporate philosophy of supercharging progress for our people and local communities, we continue to have a sharp focus on enabling the local talent ecosystem through upskilling programs and university linkages.”

HCLTech will host a graduation ceremony for learners completing its annual skills development programme later today. Over the last five years (FY21-FY25), the company has supported nearly 500 students and learners, with nearly 50 participants joining HCLTech in full-time roles. Through partnerships with the University of Johannesburg, the University of Pretoria and North-West University, HCLTech continues to strengthen South Africa’s digital talent pipeline and help bridge the gap between education and employment.

Over the past five years, HCLTech has also invested in ICT and digital literacy programmes that have positively impacted more than 20,000 beneficiaries across South Africa. Through partnerships with educational institutions, community organizations and industry leaders, HCLTech continues to expand access to technology, digital skills and employment opportunities, particularly for underserved communities, helping build a stronger and more inclusive digital future.

To commemorate the milestone, HCLTech’s leadership team joined the opening ceremony at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, reinforcing its long-term commitment to South Africa and its growing technology ecosystem.
