Telkom Business and Advannotech deliver smarter, accessible digital solutions for SA

Johannesburg: Telkom Business has partnered with Advannotech to expand access to cost-effective, enterprise-grade Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) cloud technologies. Advannotech’s VantageX is an advanced Data Fusion platform that integrates seamlessly with your existing business applications and technologies, providing comprehensive business intelligence, data automation, and machine learning capabilities. This platform empowers organisations to augment their raw data with IoT solutions, delivering actionable insights, driving efficiency and enabling innovation across all operational facets. It seamlessly connects disparate systems and smart devices to improve decision-making, reduce costs, and boost productivity across industries.

By combining Telkom Business’ connectivity with Advannotech’s smart technology, the partnership delivers real-world solutions that address challenges in agriculture, infrastructure management, healthcare, and logistics.

IoT digital solutions simplify operations, cut costs, and improve decision-making, enabling businesses big or small to unearth value by optimising operations through technology.

The partnership between Telkom Business and Advannotech will provide significant benefits to both private and public sectors, through advanced solutions and products, such as:

  • Smart utility monitoring – Water and electricity meters that track abnormal usage and leaks to help reduce waste.
  • Asset tracking – Real-time tracking of any organisational asset and provides a consolidated view of the asset location and status, ensuring operational visibility.
  • Smart farming – Monitoring and automation of environmental conditions provides data-driven insights to improve crop yields and resource use.
  • Smart security – AI-Enabled vision solution that provides contextual summaries and alerts based on video streams from existing CCTV systems for better monitoring and risk management.

“Many businesses believe that IoT is only for enterprise-size operations, but that’s simply not true anymore,” said Tjaart Bester, Head of IoT Products and Propositions at Advannotech. “Our solutions are designed to be accessible for organisations of any size looking to digitise and optimise their operations with proven technology.”

A key focus of the partnership is modernising infrastructure to make businesses and public services more efficient and cost-effective. Smart data centres use sensors to detect equipment faults early, preventing downtime and reducing maintenance costs. Connected buildings integrate energy-efficient lighting, remote access control, and water management for commercial and residential spaces. Public utilities will benefit from IoT-powered smart meters that enable municipalities to monitor and manage water and electricity more effectively.

“These technologies reduce costs and improve efficiency, making them a valuable investment for businesses and government entities alike,” said Lunga Siyo, Telkom CEO: Consumer and Small Business.

One of the standout features of this partnership is its simplified, end-to-end approach. Businesses receive a complete package, from consultation to ongoing maintenance, without the complexity of dealing with multiple providers. “We don’t just set up the system and leave,” said Siyo. “We offer continuous support and upgrades, so businesses can scale without having to reinvest in new infrastructure.” This ensures that even small and medium-sized businesses can take advantage of digital solutions without needing in-house expertise.

Looking ahead, Telkom Business and Advannotech plan to expand their solutions to provide the ability to monitor and control operations in rural areas, through AI-driven insights that simplify data analysis for businesses without requiring technical expertise, and long-range sensors for large-scale applications such as smart cities and industrial operations. “We equip businesses with the right tools to stay competitive and agile in a fast-changing digital world,” said Bester. “With our scale-as-you-grow model, we support businesses throughout their entire growth cycle.”

Advannotech has been supported by Telkom’s FutureMakers program, which provides funding and mentorship to local tech businesses. Since joining in 2022, Advannotech has developed its VantageX IoT platform, which now plays a key role in this partnership. “FutureMakers has been our springboard to solidify our offerings and expand our reach,” Bester added. “Our partnership with Telkom Business is proof that local innovation can drive real change.”
